Previously Unseen Footage Of DAMAGEPLAN Rehearsing PANTERA's 'This Love'
November 3, 2010RockConcertFotos.com has uploaded previously unseen video footage of DAMAGEPLAN rehearsing the PANTERA classic "This Love" in October 2004 at guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's personal home studio just prior to the start of DAMAGEPLAN's U.S. tour. You can now watch the clip below.
"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was co-founder and lead guitarist for PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old.
Dimebag and Vinnie formed PANTERA in the mid-Eighties in Texas. The band recorded four independent albums before their 1990 major label debut, "Cowboys From Hell", introduced a heavier sound and made them a favorite with metal fans. 1994's "Far Beyond Driven" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 without benefit of a commercial hit single. The group splintered in 2002 following the departure of volatile lead singer Philip Anselmo.
DAMAGEPLAN released is debut album, "New Found Power", in February of 2004. The group was touring in support of the record at the time of the shootings.
